STRANAS AKPSH WEBSITE

Revamping a government project's website called Stranas AKPSH (Strategi Nasional Percepatan Administrasi Kependudukan untuk Pengembangan Statistik Hayati), working together closely with Kementerian PPN/Bappenas (Kementerian Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional Republik Indonesia/Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional) and UNICEF in the process. I personally worked with a product designer, and used the chance to practically learned and ask for guidance from

Case Study

The client's need was to revamp the website's overall look, and experience throughout the whole information journey that's available on board. The client provides a website that has already been made previously, and some added contents on each page categories.

Design Process

On a one month plan to design the overall journey, we began with a timeline setting and progress reporting on one time per week meetings with the clients directly (Bappenas & UNICEF). We used Figma in the process for the overall website design execution, Figma Community to the source of our Design System & Icons, FigJam for notes and brainstorming sessions (backed with back and forth call meetings), and Adobe Illustrator for the overall illustrations.

After the timeline's approved, we then mapped on each page's needs, concepts, and content placing to structurized the previous website's older look. We also explore on the illustration styles we would use as an integrating identity on each pages. We then initiate on making the design systems first to uniform the whole look. Departing from the overall look from the design system created, we began to implement the concepts previously made, and go through an iterative process by our own explorations, and also the clients feedbacks throughout the time. We also implement on some interaction prototypes to present to our clients, in order for them to understand how would this website operates.

Challenges

Some challenges that we face was on adjusting to the client's needs on seeing how the website would operate live. We should make a detailed prototype version of the website, that almost looked like the real website already. The client also had an eye for a more diversity & nationalism character in the illustration representing, so we tried to develop the look & feel as Indonesian as possible, but still keeping the whole overall look clean.

Another issue was on organizing heavy to process contents, contains job desks for many group sections and divisions of the project. The categories was complex, and we're tasked to put those informations available on the website in a friendly and accessible way to the user. Thankfully, I have a very collaborative teammate/mentor in the project that could cooperate in even complex situations.

We solve problems and explore ideas in a fun way, by keeping the possibilities to explore and giving ideas open, also adjusting to the most feasible way to do for the current time. I personally learned a lot from him as well, since this is my first time on hand on Figma using and website developing. Kudos to him and all the person involved and helped this project! It was personally very challenging to me, yet I learned so much along the way.
